If your kid is the catcher for their baseball team, it’s right to invest in quality youth catchers gear. Most kids like playing baseball, but they need the right gear in order to keep them safe during playtime. A catcher has an interesting job in the team, because he seems to have the most responsibilities. In order for him to carry out those tasks, he should don the right gear. If your boy is a baseball team’s catcher, you should invest in quality catchers gear.   Let’s talk a bit about the catcher’s role. At the first glance, a catcher may seem to be straightforward, only involving catching the ball thrown by the pitcher. In reality, a catcher does more than just that. He keenly observes the field and opposing runners apart from keeping focus on the pitcher.   Catchers gear set includes chest protectors, leg guards, masks, and mitts. You may need to buy a set of gear or individual pieces to replace one that has been damaged. These come in different brands, so it’s important to find out which brand offers durability, quality, and comfort. Youth baseball and softball have gone popular in the United States. Because of that, sports gear companies have developed equipment for youngsters. Of course, many known athletes today started as child or teen athletes. Obviously, there are many young kids who want to play baseball. These young aspirants should be groomed to become fine athletes. As they start young, they have to don gear for young players.   Here are things to consider:   Quality – There is a good reason why people invest in known brands of sports gear. They are built to last long. Imagine having sports gear that gets torn every baseball match. Quality can also be felt by the wearer. As you know, high quality gear feels more comfortable. Durability – Catcher’s suit and gear are exposed to the elements—sunlight, rain, dust, moisture, dirt, and mud. Low quality gear will not last long when frequently exposed to these elements. Tough gear may withstand wear-and-tear process longer, but they will eventually have to be replaced. Comfort – Catchers gear may feel uncomfortable to some extent, but it should not be too uncomfortable that it already restricts freedom of movement. A catcher who is bothered by his suit and gear may not function at his best. Today, catchers gear has been improved. Known brands feature breathable materials that promote comfort. Size – Body measurements should be taken before buying catchers gear. For leg guards, run a measuring tape from the middle of the boy’s knee to the top of the ankle. Match the length with those of available leg guards. To come up with fitting chest protector, run the measuring tape from below the boy’s throat to his navel. For fitting head gear, take the circumference of the head just above the ears. Use these measurements when choosing fitting gear. Young boys would grow fast during puberty. During adolescence, they may need frequent replacement of their gear. Catchers gear set should be placed in a bag before and after the match. It may come with a gear set bag that is either wheeled or not. Make sure the bag is sturdy.
